About Southeast BIM Services
Southeast BIM Services is a small MEP BIM services firm based in Oakwood, Georgia. We work directly with mechanical contractors across the Southeast to produce coordinated, construction-ready Revit models and fabrication drawings. This isn't a desk job buried in a corporate office โ you'll work closely with project leads and support field crews who depend on accurate, buildable drawings every day.
The Role
You'll spend most of your day inside Revit, building and refining mechanical, plumbing, and related MEP systems from contractor-supplied design documents. The work falls into three areas:
Modeling
Route ductwork and piping systems in Revit using Sysque, place mechanical equipment and fixtures, build system connections, and export coordinated NWC files for clash detection. You'll work from PDF drawings and engineer-provided models, and you'll learn quickly that drainage piping almost always gets modeled from scratch.
Detailing
Produce installation-ready drawings the field can build from without guessing. That means dimensioning branches and risers, tagging pipe sizes and elevations at every direction change, calling out hangers and supports, and making sure every sheet that leaves the office has enough information for the crew on-site.
Coordination
Run clash detection in Navisworks Manage, maintain clash logs, prepare reports for coordination meetings, and help resolve spatial conflicts between trades so everything fits before it gets built. When models from multiple subcontractors collide in 3D, you're the one who finds it and helps fix it.
Why SBS
We're small. That means you're not waiting two years to touch a real project โ you're in production from week one, working alongside experienced modelers who'll teach you the trade. If you came out of a drafting program and want to build a career in construction BIM, this is where you learn fast.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience modeling in Revit MEP โ or a strong foundation from a drafting/CAD program and a willingness to learn fast
- Reliable, self-directed work habits โ you'll manage your own time against real project deadlines
- Strong attention to detail โ errors in our models show up as problems in the field
- Familiarity with clash detection concepts and basic coordination workflows
Nice to Have (But We Can Teach)
- Working knowledge of mechanical and/or plumbing systems as they are actually built (this can replace Revit experience โ we can teach the software)
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents (mechanical, plumbing, architectural)
- Experience with Navisworks Manage
- Background working for or with a mechanical or plumbing contractor
- Exposure to ductwork or piping fabrication drawings
- Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud
- Associate's degree or certificate in drafting, CAD, BIM, or a related technical field
